World War II in Canada

On September 10, 1939, Canada declared war on Germany, shortly after the Germans invaded Poland and Britain, France, Australia, and New Zealand declared war.

Within a few months -- on December 18, 1939 -- the first Canadian troops arrived in Britain. By the end of the war over 40,000 Canadian fighting men would be killed.
