Caen
- This city in Normandy, France, was liberate by the Allies a month after D-Day, in July 1944.
Capt.
- The common abbreviation for the rank of Captain.
Casablanca
- A city in Morocco on the northwest coast of Africa. The U.S. Navy put U.S. Army forces ashore near Casablanca on November 8, 1942, as part of the Allied invasion of North Africa.
Casablanca Conference
- A summit between the U.S. and Britain that opened on January 14, 1943. Roosevelt and Churchill agreed that Germany must surrender unconditionally, and planned the Allied invasion of Sicily.
CCS
- The acronym for the Combined Chiefs of Staff of the United States and Great Britain.
Channel Islands
- British islands invaded by Germany on June 30, 1940. This will be the only part of Britain to be occupied by the Germans. They were liberated only at the very end of the European war in May 1945.
Cherbourg
- A city on the French coast in Normandy. This was a high priority for the Allies after D-Day because of its value as a supply port. It was liberated from the Germans on June 27, 1944.

- East Asian nation invaded and occupied by the Japanese. China played a relatively small role in the war, since, in part, the Nationalist government led by Chaing Kai-Shek was engrossed the revolt of China's communists led by Mao Tse-Tung.
Winston Churchill
- The Prime Minister of Britain during most of World War II. On May 10, 1940 he replaced Neville Chamberlain. On July 26, 1945, Clement Atlee replaced Churchill.
